Meet Our Speakers

Dylan Smith is the founding Editor and Co-Publisher of the Tucson Sentinel, a pioneering newsroom that was one of the first nonprofit local news outlets in the United States.

He's also the founding chairman of Local Independent Online News (LION) Publishers, organizing a group of entreprenuerial publishers across the country that is now more than 500 strong.

An award-winning journalist, he's also a longtime coder — the former member of the W3C HTML Working Group still types in BBEdit. Until this summer, he'd been running the Sentinel on the same EE 1.x version since 2009.
